Here To Heart æž©æçćŒŠ is a romantic Chinese drama is based on the novel The Warm Chord. Unfortunately, there is no English translation for this Chinese novel as far as I know. In fact, I would love to read it if there is one after watching this drama. Why? Well, because as you can see from the Here To Heart review below, I think there are certain things that the drama is unable to flush out effectively from the book. Hence, it is hard for viewers to understand certain motivations of the characters RomanceEpisodes 46Release Date April 2018Images Credit IJQ TVThe Cast Of Here To HeartHans Zhang Han as Zhan NanxianJanine Chang Chun-Ning as Wen NuanJing Chao as Zhu LinluJenny Zhang Jiani as Bo YixinJocelyn Zhou Qiqi as Wen RouJi Xiao Bing as Gao FangJin Zehao as Guan TiGuo Zigan as Ding XiaodaiDavid Liang Dawei as Pan Wei NingLi Xinzhe as Liu RuiMain CharactersZhan NanxianNanxian is the CEO of Qianyu, a tech company that he started with his 2 friends. She blamed Wen Nuan for the death of her course, Wen Nuan felt guilty because it all started with her decision to break up with Nanxian. To make matters worse, Wen Rou tried to commit suicide shortly after the death of their father. She blamed herself for confessing to Nanxian and causing her sisterâs breakup. Moreover, he also realizes that he may never be able to love Wen Nuan the way Nanxian loves her and sacrifice as much. It is indeed sad to see Linlu helping Wen Nuan to try to get back Nanxian after all the time that he has stood by To Heart Review â My VerdictHere To Heart is one long drama for the romance genre. Compared to K-drama rom-coms such as Her Private Life and Something About 1 Percent, this mainland drama is indeed more long-winded and melodramatic. You must have the patience to sit through it because there is a lot of back and forth in the push and pull relationship between the 2 leads. However, the acting of Hans Zhang and Janine Chang is full of emotions and their chemistry is evident. An example is a scene whereby they sang the Here To Heart drama song, Without You, during a karaoke session. The tears just flowed. Without this on-screen chemistry, this drama could well be one big guess the producers of this drama probably wanted the viewers to be able to feel deeply invested in the love life of the characters. So, they dragged out the interactions between Wen Nuan and Nanxian as the 2 characters explore their feelings and start a guessing game as to what the other wants. Itâs kind of frustrating to watch at times because they could have easily solved their problems by having a heart-to-heart talk like adults rather than torturing themselves I suspect that the novel probably contains a lot of internal dialogues that describe what the characters are thinking and feeling. This is pretty standard in romance novels. Hence, you can understand their motivations and relate accordingly to each of the scenes as you read. But on-screen, it is hard to make viewers fully understand merely from facial expressions and conversations. So, the drama feels long-winded as the different characters interact. Because it could not effectively flush out all the internal dialogues and emotional turmoils within the characters, you may end up being frustrated over Wen Nuanâs insecurities and scratching your head over Nanxianâs actions at You Watch Here To Heart?I wonât go so far as to say that I wasted my time watching it because I like the chemistry of the 2 leads. But I definitely wonât spend another 40 plus hours to re-watch. If you like a slow burn kind of romance drama, Here To Heart might be your cup of tea. A lot of patience is needed to follow the ups and downs of this love story. You can fast forward or skip certain episodes as you wonât lose the plot. But you wonât feel as emotionally invested in the characters then. This is because certain scenes might seem boring but they are done to slowly build up on the sufferings of Wen Nuan and Nanxian and how much they love one another in the viewersâ if you plan to watch it, I would suggest that you dedicate over 40 hours of your time to watch it from start to end. I donât think the drama would be able to bring out that kind of emotional satisfaction and flavor if you skip some episodes even if it seems long-winded. It would also make you understand Wen Nuan and Nanxianâs relationship a bit better. The bottom line is Here To Heart is a long-drawn-out drama that aims to bring you on an emotional rollercoaster. So, be prepared for a long ride with some boring stretches in between once you get on!

Rising to unlikely social heights for the time, the celebrated violinist-composer and fencer found his life intertwining with that of Queen Marie Antionette Boynton, who welcomed him into her court, celebrating his talents, before an eventual falling out. Alongside shining a light on a previously ignored musical great, the film also looks at a hugely well-known historical figure in Marie, the actions of who here led Boynton on a journey of discovery about the queen which ended in what she felt was an earnedâ villainisation of her. Chevalier opens with a dramatic violin offâ between Harrison who plays in real life as Joseph and a young Mozart, whose paths would have indeed crossed in Paris at that time. Itâs not exactly a scene Harrison ever anticipated participating in during his career. Absolutely not,â he told before joking that he was destinedâ for it. Kelvin Harrison Jr as Joseph Bologne and Lucy Boynton as Marie Antoinette in Chevalier Picture Larry Horricks/Searchlight PicturesNo, no, I think even when I was about to do it â even after I watched it â I was just kind of like, what happened Kelvin? How did you get here? But Iâm not mad at it, it looks pretty cool,â he added. Much has been made of his rigorous preparation for the job on the violin, spending hours a day practising, and he revealed that he bought the instrument before he even knew the role was his. That was the first thing I did. I got the job â well actually, I didnât even get the job yet and I still think I bought a violin! Because I was just kind of like, âIâm gonna get this jobâŠâ Iâm just kidding.â Even with that attitude though, the 28-year-old wasnât quite prepared for the rigours of the role, which he joked were a nightmareâ. It took five months, seven days a week, six hours a day, my dad [a professional musician] came up with the routine. And then I got to set, and that was a whole different story because I was working all day, then they would have me go to fencing training, which I was just like, âAre you kidding me?â Harrison spent hours a day honing his craft ahead of and during shooting to portray an exceptional violinist Picture Larry Horricks/Searchlight PicturesAnd then I finished that and then my violin teacher would be waiting for me in the living room with rosin to rosin the bow, and I was like, Here we goâŠâ It felt like it was, oh God, kind of a nightmare, but it paid off!â With Marie Antionette, Boynton portrays a much less neglected figure in history and one who had her own issues to face in court as a woman, despite Chevalier not shying away from the brutally racist treatment of Black people in France in the late 1700s. Boynton explained to So much of her image, she was trying to be the author of how she presented [and] how she was perceived, so she was a woman of âmore is more is moreâ kind of extravagance.â However, the actress found a helpful practical history lesson in her elaborate costumes and corsets. Itâs interesting, the contrast between the opulence and scale of the exterior versus the interior, which is as restrictive as possible for women at that time. And thankfully, as an actress now you donât need to go that far, but it is interesting to at least experience that in the fitting â obviously when someone is tying it safely â because you realise how restrained you are in your movement, in your breath and the way that you can project your voice, even,â she noted. Boynton was intrigued by the contrast between Marieâs extravagant gowns and surroundings and the restriction of her corset Picture Searchlight Pictures The cast includes Minnie Driver as Marie-Madeleine Guimard, star of the Paris Opera for 25 years Picture Searchlight PicturesSo that fed this idea of what a woman is, restrained and limited and quiet in all of those ways. [It was] a fascinating kind of version of the research.â The Bohemian Rhapsody star, 29, was drawn to the project as a story that has gone mostly untold, wanting to educate myself on Joseph but also be a part of bringing his story to a broader audience, having been so wrongly erased from the history booksâ. The craziest thing about Josephâs story is the fact that he is the son of a slave and a slave owner,â Harrison chimed in. He was never meant to be doing all of these things according to what they wanted, what the expectation was of him, and through some extraordinary circumstances and his incredible gift, he ended up being this icon that we are literally making a movie about today because of the work that he did. And not just as an artist, but as a philanthropist.â The actor feels that Chevalier does a decent amount of addressing the injustices of the racial dynamics of the timeâ, in which Joseph is shown being bullied at school, physically attacked, and openly discriminated against thanks to the hateful rhetoric of the time. He was never meant to be doing all of these thingsâ, says Harrison of Joseph in eighteenth-century France Picture Larry Horricks/Searchlight Pictures The composer is shown facing the racism and bigotry of the time Picture Searchlight Pictures He observed that Boyntonâs Marie Antoinette definitely leans into itâ too, joking that he still hasnât forgivenâ his co-star. A lot has been written about the French queen, but Boynton said that leaving behind the preconceived ideasâ she â and the world â have about her was the most helpful part of her research â and remembering that she was just a young girl. She was 14 when she entered the French court, no 14-year-old should be put in that position of responsibility, and she had such a sheltered life,â the actress pointed out. Her reputation is so specific, and sheâs blamed for so much â and yet as a woman, especially at that time and in that position, you were told that you there are no real repercussions to your actions, you had no power. And then sheâs put in this position where she realises the repercussions of that.â Boynton reckons that doing away with prejudices was what enabled her to really drive home this version of her and what was specifically necessary for this storyâ. That did also mean looking at her as a villain, something she was reticentâ to do at first. Boynton checked all of her preconceived ideas of Marie Antoinette at the door Picture Searchlight Pictures The stars at the UK gala screening for the film Picture Karwai Tang/WireImageShe has been so historically villainised, but then it just made sense with this film â had she been villainised for what she does in [Chevalier], it would have been much more earned, and so having the licence to kind of really lean into that and into the remorselessness of that, was I think a very different side of her.â Unsurprisingly, for a period drama set in pre-French Revolution Paris, Chevalier goes all out in its production design and level of detail, with its actors often bowled over by the cinematic scale. Recalling a specific day when she was wowed, Boynton picked an extravagant ball scene as she remembered walking onto the set and feeling totally absorbed in the moment. Karen Murphy, our production designer, did the most unbelievably intricate job of designing that environment, but then also having things like â all the flowers you see in a film are real. It was a completely immersive experience being on that set and in that environment. The sets and level of detail routinely wowed the actors Picture Larry Horricks/Searchlight Pictures Director Stephen Williams on set with Samara Weaving, who plays Marie-Josephine de Montalembert, Josephâs lover Picture Larry Horricks/Searchlight Pictures Harrison and Boynton were fans of the fresh flowers in this ball scene, but other things were a little less⊠fresh Picture Larry Horricks/Searchlight PicturesAnd then also getting to do a scene that is the happier side of this relationship and the friendship side of it and the youth as well â I was able to just sit in it more and enjoy it and hang out.â However, Harrison reminded her that the fish in the scene, piled on decadent food platters, were real too, causing a not-so-pleasant odour for them to be immersedâ in. I didnât shower because they didnât do that at the time⊠Iâm method,â he joked, seemingly wishing to add to the smell on the day. Because why would you want to wash off the oysters? Thatâs what that wasâŠâ Boynton hit back. Chevalier opens in UK cinemas on Friday June 9. Got a story? Ongoing 46/48 floweraod30 people found this review helpful Story Acting/Cast 10 Music 10 Rewatch Value 6/10 Story Maybe this story wouldn't have fit a typical 90-120 minute film; however, 46 episodes was super unnecessary. There was unnecessary screen time for other characters, especially the second female lead [who sometimes takes 90% of the screen time of an episode]. I'm all for the development of characters other than the leads; however, most of the time, there was no development. If there WAS development, another misunderstanding or miscommunication would hinder any type of character growth. I think this could've been a 16 episode drama. I'd compare this drama to My Sunshine 2015 which had an extremely similar storyline with 32 episodes. The only thing that kept me watching was the fact that nothing better was airing.10/10 Cast I was so happy when the cast was revealed. Seeing Hans Zhang and Janine Chang reunite was awesome. The last drama I've seen with them as co-leads was The Four 2015. How unfortunate because I gave The Four a 10/10 rating but this drama was a disappointment, though it isn't the actors' fault.10/10 Music Not something I really noticed or cared about. I don't think the music would bother anyone though.1/10 Rewatch Value Totally not worth spending 46 hours on. Even if there is nothing to watch, this was too frustrating. But it did give me something to waste my time on which is why the overall score I've given is a 7. Read More Was this review helpful to you?
